Street furniture

Project using recycled tyres.

Design

Milky Blue enjoys a good challenge, and loves its planet. That’s why we entered the Challenge on tyre recycling organised by Openwaste at the Leroy Merlin Techshop, in Ivry sur Seine.

Along with two talented designers, Wandrille Heusse and Paul Couderc, we won the first prize.

The challenge was to create objects for various purposes using recycled tyre aggregate.

We created a piece of street furniture to protect the small poles that can be seen everywhere in the streets, car parks and on pavements.

Our objective was to offer undeniable protection for cars and people thanks to a well-known damping material while at the same time using a considerable amount of waste.

The prototype was created with vulcanised plates in recycled tyre aggregate that were water-jet cut. They were then assembled in successive layers of parametric shapes.

The objective in 2018 is to look into the possibility of industrial manufacturing. Aliapur will also support us to carry out the R&D carried out that will give life to this project and optimise new long-lasting and diversified recovery methods.
